British designer, John Galliano, introduced the Chelsea Flower Present (properly, the Couture model) to Paris yesterday as Haute Couture autumn/winter 2010 started in a sometimes exuberant type at Christian Dior. Final season, Galliano adorned his runway with hundreds of recent roses, so this season he surpassed himself with a super-sized backyard theme. The wonder look was a corresponding explosion of color: towering tulip-shaped sculpted hair by Orlando Pita, wrapped in cones of vivid cellophane created by milliner Stephen Jones. While, Pat McGrath was feeling equally experimental together with her alternative of palette as she went for Xanadu-esque colour-blocking on the eyes with deeply stained lips. If the fashions have been the personification of backyard natural world, then that is flower arranging of the very best order.
